The Beginning
POV: me in the mornings
Hello to everyone who is giving their time to be here. Thank you.
This is my very first blog, a space where I’ll share my journey, art, and everything I enjoy creating or thinking about. I hope some of it feels familiar to you, too. I’d be happy if you shared your feedback, comments, or thoughts.
My name is Seyma, and I’m a visual artist who loves experimenting with different mediums. I’m also a BFA student, figuring things out step by step.
In this first blog post, I want to introduce myself. Nothing too formal—I plan to keep this space free and insightful, depending on my mood, work, and the little things I feel like sharing. Expect art, I am a massive fan of books and bookstores, which gives me that book-smelly, cozy vibe. Yeah, I know. It sounds cliché, but coffee and chocolate chip cookies are the best combination with books. Recently, I have been reading “The Favorites” by Layne Fargo, which gives a strong passion, success, competition, and the question of being who? Vibes. Balances change in a second between people in the kind of celebrity world, in and out, different. At some point, it makes you go “wow”! Which I like when I read. And I am listening to Elsie Silver’s Chestnut Spring series, which is on the third one, but not according to order. Lol, I have my order. It is still good, I guess, but I recommend you guys go with the order my favorite genre could be romance. I cannot hold myself back from getting a romance. And fiction, family, friends, and novels. Sounds like Sarah Morgan. She is one of my favorite authors. I feel like I am home. “Summer Swap” by Sarah Morgan is in my TBR, so maybe it will be the next one. Not decided yet.
Reading is also significantly affecting my art process. I enjoy listening to audiobooks when I work in the studio. It helps me get into my work, which takes me to another world where I like to be and meet new characters, knowing their stories, even though these books are fiction. If the authors are writing these, they are inspired by somewhere or someone, and some of them are close to being real. They are not my favorite, but even fantasy books.
Making art helps me figure things out, makes me calm, and leads me to think differently about so many aspects we see daily as a person or feeling. Dealing with the emotions of different selves in a bad or good way is not easy. Thoughts, lifestyle, and age I’ve passed have significantly changed me. And I realized that there is no stop sign when you live. You will change. And for me, the thing is learning something in every step. Ok, but not in a toxic and dramatic way. I admit I love drama, but not in real life. Books are good, but we have a brain that needs to be used, right? Let’s see how successful I am when I practice. This week, my mood is swinging. But overall, we are in a good mood. I felt like making art, and lastly, I started to draw a girl from behind; her hair was my focus.
Drawing figures is my primary focus, especially women. I want to talk to you guys using my lines. I posted her on my Instagram, but it still needs some work. Mark making, lines are the art alphabet; only the one who creates it knows. That is why I always like to see the story behind the scenes, artwork, and lines. Knowing what people feel or think when doing their pieces is fantastic. Emotions, like hope, happiness, vulnerability, and serenity, are my initial focus in my works. I would love to express them with the figures. Hands, eyes, body, hair, tell a lot to us. I practiced printmaking and drawing a lot. I plan to paint in oil too. But still try to figure out my style. Which one do I want to go to? We will see, and I will share it with you.
That’s it for this week—just a slight introduction and a tiny wave from me.
This blog will be where I share whatever’s going on in my world—books I’m reading, coffee I’m tasting, desserts I’m desiring, artworks I’m creating, and even the class assignments I’m stressed with or proud of. Some days, it can be chaotic thoughts; others, it is a finished piece. That’s the beauty of it.
I want this to develop into a cozy little community, full of stories, ideas, and gentle creativity. Whether you’re an artist, a reader, a dreamer, or just curious, thank you for being here. I’ll post weekly and love to hear your thoughts whenever you feel like sharing.
Let’s build something soft, real, and a little magical together.
